ISLAMABAD – The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Wednesday decided to file a corruption reference against former minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain and others for fraudulently awarding gas contracts.
The accused persons in this case were alleged to have illegally and with connivance of officials of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) and Sui Southern Gas CompanyLimited (SSGCL) awarded gas contracts which caused a loss of Rs 17.338 billion to national kitty.
The Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) and Natural Gas Liquids(NGL) extracted at an exorbitant rate and were illegally allowed tobe retained at level of 50 per cent of LPG and 100 per cent of NGLby contractor. The decision was taken in Executive Board Meeting (EBM) held with NAB Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry here at the NAB Headquarter.
