LAHORE: The Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) has filed a reference with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) for the disqualification of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
The reference was filed by PAT Secretary General Khurran Nawaz Gandapur and Advocate Ishtiaq Chaudhary on Thursday. The reference claimed that Nawaz Sharif concealed the assets of his sons and daughter and that has been proven by the information provided by Panama Leaks.
Talking to newsmen, they said that Nawaz Sharif in his tax returns of 2011-12 did not reveal the assets of his children and by doing so committed a crime and according to the Peoples’ Representative Act 1976, Section 12, that states every parliamentarian is bound to reveal all his assets and those who do not give correct information shall lose their parliament’s membership.
PAT secretary general said that his party has filed the disqualification reference with solid proofs. “We will wait and see if the ECP takes up our reference for hearing and if any inordinate delay is witnessed, PAT will be forced to approach the Supreme Court of Pakistan,” he added.
He said that the PAT will continue its war against the corrupt rulers and will not rest until these culprits meet their logical end.
